Birds are not the only ones that have eggs...

Why do they call it "egg" if doesn't belong to a bird???
by David
David doesn't quite like fairytales...he loves real facts.
So, everytime we go a library he wants an encyclopedia, or a book about space, oceans, anatomy...
And there we were...
"Mom, where do babies come from??? (and just to make sure he's gonna get the truth) I know that they stay a while inside mommies bellies, but how do they get there??"
And, when you come to a question like that, the best thing you can do for a 5-year old is to tell him the real truth seen from the inside of the body, so he'll learn what's all about from the gynecologist's point of view, but not from the "under the sheets" point of view...(if you know what i mean)
So...we bought a book about anatomy, and we read about the woman's egg and the man's sperm...and so on (you know the story)...
He seemed that he understood...so we can relax for a while...
But...
"Mom...why do woman have eggs like birds. Is it a real egg???"
"This is what they called it, because it does the same thing that birds egg does" (that was the best explanation i came with)
"Yes, but why?? Do women lay eggs too?"
"Well....no..." (i stoped there lack of inspiration and knowledge)
After a few days we visited a friend who is pregnant ,and after he explained with lots of details how the baby got inside her, he asked very politely:
"Ana, when your baby is going to hatch???"
